Intermediate Filmmaking
Ages 11 – 14


Gain hands-on experience in techniques in lighting, composition and editing. Using these tools, they will work towards developing a visual story-telling approach that best suits their own personal vision. Students will produce their own films and critique them in class to advance themselves as artists and help gain understanding of filmmaking as a collaborative art.

Daniel Weintraub is the director of The Art Effect’s Forge Media. Daniel began making films as a teenager, winning an international film festival at age 16. He went on to earn a degree in film and television at Northwestern University. Daniel has written and directed numerous short films that have screened at film festivals around the world. Professionally, he has worked as an editor and director on a vast variety of projects; from network promos to experimental films to documentaries and TV shows for clients such as Comedy Central, HBO, NBC and The Travel Channel. Daniel is currently at work directing his first feature length documentary: “Deep Listening: The Story of Pauline Oliveros”.
