Art Abroad in Kenya

$5,250.00

Travel with Art Institute Director Todd Poteet and Photographer John Rizzo to Kenya where we will study the art, motiffs and culture of the people of Kenya. Departure will be on March 22, 2019 and return March 31st. We will be spending the majority of our time in the town of Nanyuki at the foot of mount Kenya. The group will travel to Sopa Lodge where we will work in Plein Air drawing and painting, photography and color theory related to atmospheric and light conditions. During the duration of their stay, students will work with artists as they explore the culture and arts of Kenya. We will explore and discover patterns, colors, and motiffs through the examination of local arts, crafts, costuming, and ceremonial dress and jewelry. We will be visiting several villages, participating in ceremonies, seeing the wild life via safari, and traveling to various sites for art excursions each day.
