This advanced mentoring and portfolio development course is designed to help you earn top scholarship awards by developing a strong body of artwork. It must be taken in conjunction with Navigating College Admission (at no additional cost), and requires Advanced Portfolio Development or a session of the Summer Art Institute as a prerequisite.

You will complete 12 pieces of artwork informed by approved sketches as well as a visual research sketchbook that reflects a deeper understanding of concepts you are visually expressing in the artwork each week. You will provide a finished piece every class for critique and resubmit the previous week’s piece after applying feedback.

Once successfully completed you will be given letters of recommendation from the instructor, direct assistance applying to the colleges of your choice, and exhibit your work at a public gallery event.

Interviews will be scheduled for September 1, at 5:30pm.
Students must submit 3 proposals and current portfolio at the time of their interview for this highly selective course. Placement will be announced that night and the first piece will be due the following week.

Rick Price has an MFA from Savannah College of Art & Design, is the chair of the fine art department at the Harvey School, and has extensive teaching experience at Buck’s Rock in CT, mural painting in San Francisco and Beacon, illustration commissions, and has exhibited his fine art work nationwide.
