Summer Art Institute – In Person, For Ages 14–19

Session 1: July 5 – July 23
Session 2: July 26 – August 13 

The Art Effect’s Summer Art Institute (SAI) is for artistically motivated teens ages 14-19 to develop their creativity and build skills that prepare them for advanced artistic study and careers in the visual arts. This summer SAI will offer 3 majors:

  • Drawing & Painting Major will be taught by Morgan Suter, and will feature extensive studio time for drawing, painting, and mixed media, as well as additional workshops in ceramics, digital photography, sketchbook development, and figure drawing.
  • The Digital Art and Illustration Major will be taught by Sarah Taylor, and will feature extensive studio time for digital painting and illustration projects as well as additional workshops in digital sketchbook development and digital photo manipulation with a ceramics elective.
  • Advanced Drawing and Painting Major will be taught by Rick Price, and will feature extensive studio time for drawing and painting projects as well as additional workshops in live-model figure drawing, sketchbook development, and painting applications for digital photography.

Speciality supplies are included, but SAI students are encouraged to purchase their own supplies. Supply list will be shared after registration.

Director of the Summer Art Institute, Rick Price has an MFA from Savannah College of Art & Design, is the chair of the fine art department at the Harvey School, and has extensive teaching experience at Buck’s Rock in CT, mural painting in San Francisco and Beacon, illustration commissions, and has exhibited his fine art work nationwide. 


All in-person programs will adhere to State and County protocols to ensure a safe and fun experience for all.
