This class will be focused on transforming the students’ love of filmmaking into a broader set of skills they can use to express themselves and achieve their creative goals. The main creative thrust of the class will be to get kids to step away from the one-shot You Tube video aesthetic they are used to. They will learn the importance of using camera angles, camera movement, lighting, sound design and editing to tell their stories.

Daniel Weintraub is the director of The Art Effect’s apprentice production house, Forge Media. Daniel began making films as a teenager, winning an international film festival at age 16. He went on to earn a degree in film and television at Northwestern University. Daniel has written and directed numerous short films that have screened at film festivals around the world. Professionally, he has worked as an editor and director on a vast variety of projects; from network promos to experimental films to documentaries and TV shows for clients such as Comedy Central, HBO, NBC and The Travel Channel. Daniel is currently at work directing his first feature length documentary: “Deep Listening: The Story of Pauline Oliveros”.
