The Art Institute is a pre-college portfolio program for artistically motivated and career-minded teens ages 14-19. We help them develop their ideas and master skills in the visual and media arts. Excellence is, after all, built on a firm foundation. Students will strengthen their portfolios by exploring advanced art techniques, presentation, critique, composition, emotionalism, and the importance of conceptualism.
Since 2000, our graduates have been offered over $49 million in merit-based scholarships to the nation’s leading colleges, universities, and art schools.
Classes are held year around in fall and spring semesters with three-week long summer intensives.
Below are works created by students in The Art Institute:
—Camps are currently scheduled to continue as planned.
—Art classes that were scheduled to occur between March 13-27 are being postponed for two weeks and are scheduled to resume when the Poughkeepsie City School District reopens.
—MADLab and Spark Studios programs will continue with students participating in program remotely.
The Art Effect is monitoring the spread of COVID-19 in New York and will continue to implement health and safety measures to protect our program participants and their families. In light of the changing situation with the COVID-19 public health challenge, The Art Effect is currently following the guidance of the Poughkeepsie City School District with regards to suspensions of programming. When we postpone, reschedule, or shift the format of classes, parents and participants will be notified immediately. Should it become necessary for The Art Effect to cancel camps or classes, prorated refunds will be issued to those affected by the cancellation. We thank you for your continued support and we will keep everyone apprised of any major updates or changes to our programming that may occur as a result of COVID-19.
