What is the Hudson Valley Regional Portfolio Week?
Hudson Valley Regional Portfolio Day allows local youth the opportunity to speak with college representatives, get their portfolio critiqued, and receive a true advantage as they contend for merit-based scholarships in the arts. Now in its 20th year, Portfolio Day is able to provide this unique opportunity to high school and Art Institute students free of change thanks to a generous grant from a local foundation. Last year’s virtual event was VERY successful, with more than 340 portfolio reviews over the course of a full week! This unique virtual week-long event offers personal interaction which approximates the flow of an in-person event, allowing attendees the chance to explore additional schools they didn’t previously make appointments with when available. Students will sign up for 15 minute portfolio review time slots from 4 – 8:00pm with various colleges over each of the four days of the virtual Portfolio Week. Colleges who wish to join us may register for a virtual “table” here.
What should you bring to your pre-scheduled appointment?
Your portfolio should consist of 10-15 of your best and most recent visual artwork. You may also want to include works in progress or sketchbooks in order to share your process when necessary. Each portfolio should be photographed and uploaded to be presented digitally via Zoom’s screen share during your scheduled meeting time.
