Throughout July and August, a dozen prestigious visual arts and design colleges will be reviewing the portfolios of student artwork. The presentations by the colleges and subsequent review of artwork will be hosted at the Washington Hall Gallery on the Dutchess Community College campus in July and August.
Students attending the presentations will have the opportunity to meet with college representatives, present their portfolios for review, and receive advice on the art school application process and applying for scholarships. Attending these events are free and open to all students in the area interested in presenting their portfolios and meeting with representatives from visual arts and design schools.

College visits are hosted by The Art Institute, an advanced portfolio and college preparatory program offered by The Art Effect. The Art Institute has been assisting high school age teens in receiving college scholarships since 1996. The program, completely taught by professional artists, stresses skills and creative development in drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography.
