Portfolio Day is here, this November 8th

The Art Effect is pleased to present the 18th annual Hudson Valley Regional Portfolio Day at the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Museum on Route 9 in Hyde Park, NY on Friday, November 8th, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Over 40 admissions representatives from top art colleges across the nation will talk to students and review their portfolios for scholarship eligibility to major art schools and universities.

This event is FREE to students, teachers, guidance counselors, parents, and interested members of the general public. Students should bring 15-20 examples of original, recent artwork. During the four-hour event, students have the opportunity to meet and speak with representatives from over 40 art schools and colleges. Students obtain catalogs, admission policies, and information on scholarship opportunities directly from their preferred schools. Students also bring their art portfolios for review and evaluation, giving them a true advantage in developing a strong college application. Many Hudson Valley youth and students at The Art Effect have discovered their future college at Portfolio Day and gained an advantage in the college application process.

Emma Schmidt participated in the Art Institute’s rigorous Senior Project course as the culmination of over ten years of programs and courses at The Art Effect. She attended Portfolio Day in 2018, which was instrumental in her decision to attend Boston University, class of 2023, starting this fall: Portfolio Day is ultimately what led me to the college that I will be attending in the fall. It was at this event that I spoke with a Boston University representative, causing me to add it to my list of schools to apply to. I fell in love with Boston University after further exploration, and I’m very glad for the opportunity The Art Effect offered to me in the form of their Portfolio Day.”
