Art Institute Summer Sessions, ages 14-19

For teens ages 14-19, three-week sessions
June 25 – August 3, 2018
in the fine arts studios at Dutchess Community College.

Sessions are held in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art (Art Gallery.) For easiest access to the building, take Cottage Road to Parking Lot D. Refer to Dutchess Community College campus map.

Session 1 June 25-July 13 (nm $1335 • m $1280)
Session 2 July 16-August 3 (nm $1335 • m $1280)
Session 2 RESIDENTIAL July 15-August 3 ($2900)(SOLD OUT)

The summer sessions of the Art Institute are for motivated, artistically- and career-minded teens to develop their creativity, build skills in the visual arts, and prepare portfolios for college. Students work with professional artists who approach teaching from a mentor position. Located in the Fine Arts Studios and Photo Lab at Dutchess Community College. Students choose from three areas of concentration: Photography, Drawing & Painting, and Advanced Drawing & Painting. There are two sessions: June 25–July 13, July 16–August 3; (residential is July 15-August 3).

Summer Junior Art Institute, ages 11-14

For youth ages 11-14, two-week sessions June 25 – August 3, 2018 in the studios at Dutchess Community College Art Studios, 53 Pendell Road.

Sessions are held in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art (Art Gallery.) For easiest access to the building, take Cottage Road to Parking Lot D. Refer to Dutchess Community College campus map.

This innovative program in the studios at Dutchess Community College is for motivated students and focuses on developing skills in drawing, painting, and filmmaking while helping aspiring artists prepare for intensive visual arts instruction in high school and beyond. We explore deeply the fundamental principles governing art. Parents are invited each Friday afternoon at 3:30pm for arts sharing and exhibition.

Summer Arts

The Art Effect has a range of summer programs that challenge and inspire students of all ages. Youth ages 4-12 explore the arts at Dutchess Arts Camp. The Junior Art Institute for ages 11-14 features filmmaking, drawing, and painting. While teens ages 14-19 develop advanced skills in pre-college courses at the Summer Art Intensive.
