Art Institute Summer Sessions
Ages 14-19

For teens ages 14-19, three-week sessions
July 1 – August 9, 2019
in the fine arts studios at Dutchess Community College.

Note: There will be class on July 4th.

Sessions are held in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art (Art Gallery.) For easiest access to the building, take Cottage Road to Parking Lot D. Refer to Dutchess Community College campus map.

Session 1 July 1-July 19 (nm $1375 • m $1320)
Session 2 July 22-August 9 (nm $1375 • m $1320)
Session 2 RESIDENTIAL July 21-August 9 ($3150)

The summer sessions of The Art Institute are for motivated artistically and career-minded teens to develop their creativity, build skills in the visual arts, and prepare portfolios for college. Students work with professional artists who serve as teachers and mentors. Located in the Fine Arts Studios and Photo Lab at Dutchess Community College. There are two sessions offered: July 1 – July 19 & July 22 – August 9.

Summer Junior Art Institute
Ages 11-14

For youth ages 11-14, two-week sessions July 1 – August 9, 2019 in the studios at Dutchess Community College Art Studios, 53 Pendell Road.

Sessions are held in the Allyn J. Washington Center for Science and Art (Art Gallery.) For easiest access to the building, take Cottage Road to Parking Lot D. Refer to Dutchess Community College campus map.

This creative program is for mid-level students to focus on developing their skills in drawing, painting, photography and filmmaking while helping them prepare for intensive visual arts instruction in high school and beyond. Held in the studios of Dutchess Community College along with its sister program The Art Institute, students will explore the foundations of good artmaking practices in a variety of media. Film & Photography studies will build students’ understanding of storytelling, conceptualism, and digital equipment while Drawing & Painting studies will expand their understanding of composition, color relationships, visual art techniques and more.
